Frequently treated pathologies

Geriatric clinic

In our geriatric clinic we primarily treat patients who arrive for rehabilitation after the following conditions or interventions:

  • Heart attack/pulmonary embolism, chronic heart disease
  • Heart surgery or other interventions
  • Peripheral arterial occlusion, bypass surgery
  • Post-amputation prosthesis management (one or both sides)
  • Metabolic disorders, particularly diabetes mellitus with sequelae (angiopathy, neuropathy, diabetic foot syndrome)
  • Function disorders such as fall syndrome
  • Injuries of the locomotor system or of the skeletal/musculoskeletal system (incl. polytrauma, e.g. traffic accident)
  • Fractures (weight-bearing status) (particularly of the proximal femur), but also osteosyntheses (non-weight bearing status)
  • Osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, joint replacement surgery
  • Degenerative spine and joint disorders
  • Chronic pain syndrome
  • Immobility following the above mentioned diagnoses
  • Neurological disorders (apoplexy, Parkinson’s disease, neuropathies, etc.)
  • Decubitus/chronic wounds
  • Following severe surgical interventions (with complications, also cancer surgery)
  • Malignant tumours/metastases and their sequelae
  • Slow recovery
  • Cognitive disorders up to dementia
  • Depression in connection with impaired capability to lead an independent life
  • Eating and drinking disorders
